Turning knowledge into action to reduce preventable deaths from Rheumatic Heart Disease
Dear Global Heart Network friends
On 24th September Medtronic announced an exciting five-year, $6 million (USD) funding commitment from Medtronic Philanthropy to reduce premature mortality resulting from Rheumatic Fever (RF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD): http://bit.ly/1n78K6r
Medtronic hope that this effort will spark a global movement among the RHD community that will go far beyond the scope of this project and continue beyond their 5 year commitment.
We’re thrilled to be working with Medtronic Philanthropy as a selected global partner, with RhEACH and the World Heart Federation.
Global Heart Network will be working with Medtronic to elevate the voice of people living with RHD and increase the network of supporters for RHD. We will work to bring the voice of the patient, patient advocate and caregiver to the forefront of the RHD discussion and together with the whole RHD community we will find new and exciting ways of dealing with RHD, its progression and response to treatments over time.
This partnership is a recognition of the GHN mission and the work the GHN does with the community on a day-to-day basis – thank you for your continued support.
